Yesterday when Autumn & Heidi were cleaning up, they piled most of the toys here and said they were making "a picture". So naturally, I had to take a picture of it. :-)
I am wife to the best tenor ever, mother of five beautiful girls, feeder of two silly cats, and a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (often referred to as Mormons). I love to read and can often be found staying up late buried in a book or neglecting house chores (willingly!) to read. I also love music. It fills my life. We often sing in the car more than we talk, my girls sing as they play making up their own melodies to suit their moods, and my husband teaches voice at a university out in a west Texas town (where we are all acclimating to hot, hot, HOT). I play piano and flute and dream of a day when I'll play both better than I currently do. Until then I jump at every chance I'm given to share my talents. I absolutely love playing for choirs and small vocal ensembles and maybe someday when I have the piano chops for it, I'm sure I'll love playing orchestra reductions for my opera singing husband. Music is truly a beautiful thing.
Welcome to my blog and please enjoy all the craziness that IS -- my life! Even if you don't learn anything here, I hope you'll be left with a smile, a laugh, or a chuckle or two.
If you weren't around for the birth of my blog, you may be wondering, "Why such a strange web address?".
Originally my blog title was "From the Mixed-Up Files of..." -- and if you love juvenile fiction, you may remember the book "From the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E Frankweiler". It's about a brother and sister who run away from home, hide in a museum, and meet a woman who donates to the museum. The woman has a MASSIVE file collection in her house. And it's VERY mixed up, to anyone else but her. I can relate. I feel like that is the story of my life. Only it's my BRAIN that's the collection of mixed-up files. And even I'M not sure what order these files are in. So many hats to wear. So many roles to fill. So many things to remember - and forget. But, what a ride!!!
Somewhere along the way I wanted the title to be a little more self-explanatory. And so, welcome to my blog, where it's always Business As Usual!
