Today I've been researching a few different kitchen doo-dads (loaf pans and apple corers specifically) and have been struck by how far we've come in society.

I think our grandparents and their grandparents had better appreciation for GOOD, STURDY, RELIABLE tools than we do today. Today there is an ever present sense that we must get everything we need for the lowest price possible.

It's ridiculous.

In recent months, I've come to feel so strongly about buying things that are of good quality and will do their job in the ways I want them to and last for a good long time. And although I'm talking about this in relation to kitchen tools, it applies to so many other areas. Food. Furniture. Electronics.

I'm so tired of buying and RE-BUYING things. I'm so tired of buying things that don't quite work. I am totally committed now to buying things that are the very best for the jobs being done. And I think if that means some things are more expensive, I'll wait till I can afford them.
